On February 22 nd, 1983 the BBC broadcast a comprehensive profile of Burroughs in their arts series, Arena. Burroughs himself acts as " tour guide " through his extraordinary life and career. The profile also includes contributions from Francis Bacon, Allen Ginsberg, Brion Gysin, Lucien Carr, Herbert Huncke and members of Burroughs ' s own family.
Its brilliant to see these literary greats together. You can read about important figures knowing each other and bein associated with each other but you sometimes lose in interpretation that real sense of cameraderie and friendship that must exist for everything else to exist. To think of Burroughs or Ginsberg as these profound lateral thinkers loses the fact they were still able to muck around together and are obviously still linked in the same spirit here as they were when they were young.
