  • Hey guys! Quick question. Do they have good internet there? I want to know. I think it would be cool to go to Antarctica, but I need really good internet to keep me company. I would love it if you answered!

  • @panther2598 there is absolutely internet where i am :)

  • its amazing how u need to follow a rope to get from dorm to dorm. whats your purpose for being there?

  • @dankestdank420 most everyone who is there for the winter is supporting the science staff - so anything from being an electrician to carpenter to welder to supply to kitchen staff. its fun times :)

  • that was pretty interesting. thanks for posting it. what were your jobs over there?

  • @ntala there are tons of jobs! i was a dishwasher - my friends were janitors, carpenters, electricians, waste management. oodles of fun work down there!

  • How did you like it? I use to work on cruise ships and i keep seeing ads for jobs down there!

  • So much for keeping the paper towels dry....

  • Oh come on. You don't need rope lines for that. You can see where you are going. I have a feeling there was a bit of acting going on.

People who winter at McMurdo and the Pole are there to support science experiments PARTLY, but they are also there to support The Station itself which has to be kept operational during the winter.

  • Wasn't there in the winter - only summer support but it was awesome none-the-less. Couldn't imagine being there in the winter.

  • next time just send the dog

  • all that snow is so beautiful :) we get a few good months of winter here in northern iowa but i wish i could be someplace like that. the lowest temp. i've seen around here is -25. not really that cold at all. but antarctica-now that seems really nice.

  • Stop being a wimp, I'd be out there sailboarding in my shorts and wife beater shirt. WTF @1:32
