Words taken from The Lazy Man's Guide To Enlightenment by Thaddeus Golas (1924-1997), song by Ott: Smoked Glass & Chrome. If the text changes too quickly for you, watch the original, slower version read by the author himself at http://youtube.com/watch?v=b02lP6Q23CI
This version is just a remix of the slides I made, and is meant as a rehash of the information presented in the other video.

  • my little copy has been read many times until I got passed it and realized that enlightenment is a sham. The best we can hope for is maturity of mind. To be a little more understanding, patient, open-minded, and compassionate than the year before. It doesnt require a book - just living with awareness.

  • Yes, I fully agree with that actually!

  • I can't read that fast.

  • If you had read the description of the video, you would have known that... "The text goes a little too fast two times in the beginning. Just watch the video twice to catch it. Or otherwise watch the slower version read by the author himself at...(see link there)"

  • such a good tune

  • @creationofself (please excuse my long comment continued): Living with awareness is enough, it's true.

And we don't need books. And yet "take all the help you can get" one master said. What are you not aware of yet? That is what can be pointed out... How does the thought "enlightenment is a sham" feel? Does it arise over and over? Notice that. So, here is more book to read and then discard: The power of now.

It may explain "enlightenment" in a new way which points rather than makes thoughts.

  • @creationofself In some sense "enlightenment" is a sham because whatever idea you form of it is not true,

"IT" is in fact totally different. Gradually "improving yourself" is fine as far as it goes. But Humanity needs much more than this and we are going to get it, even if it is as our earth crumbles. Ultimately what we are all missing is: There is much more than just our thoughts and the internal world we create entirely out of thoughts and feelings. To become aware of THAT is the begining.

  • my guess is that "the universe" goes on forever, as does "time". forever and ever and ever. no beginning and no end.

  • @creationofself :

yeah, see what u mean. 'enlightenment'--if i had the time & energy it would b interesting to list some definitions of 'enlightenment' & compare & contrast them.

Personally am interested in the 'enlightenment is nothing other than the loss of the ego' type of malarky. Like: the ego? How can losing that which defines oneself, in some very important sense, be the ultimate aim?

  • @creationofself LOL fuck its a sham . i already am that. and i can't gain anything from knowing that. so nothing changed. pff scam artists wasting my time. sometimes it just takes an old guru to snap people out of it when your down man. they are pretty funny i think : p

  • @Jyotirveda2 It's the mandelbrot set and it's pretty amazing.

Google it, explore it and you'll see what I'm talking about.

  • @Jyotirveda2 It's the mandelbrot set. google it.

  • dude how fast do u want us to read

  • @creationofself some would argue that there are different levels of enlightenment, and your acquisition of each depends on your effort and attitude towards their attainment. enlightenment is damn hard to reach, especially when you aren't being pampered in a monastery and being forced to perform mandatory 3 hour meditations throughout the day. the monks that live in tibet, india, etc have it easy. no distractions = less outer chatter, which is the first step in meditation and clear comprehension
