I see the videos posted by the Edmonton Valley Zoo now only posts comments they approve, which means any negative comments about their continued exploitation of Lucy will more than likely not be posted. The truth hurts.

This is just a lame excuse for the continued exploitation of this poor elephant by the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Maggie the elephant was successfully transported by air from Alaska to the PAWS sanctuary several years ago and is thriving, living happily among her own kind, as elephants were meant to. Most Canadians feel elephants do NOT belong in zoos, especially in a cold climate. It is time Lucy was retired to a sanctuary in a warm climate where she would be free to roam and play.

It's unfortunate the public thinks Lucy is being mistreated. I think the ill informed public tends to jump on the bandwagon after a celebrity "claims" Lucy is living in inadequate conditions. Many qualified veterinarians have examined Lucy and they all agree that any transportation would kill her. She gets severe diarrhea and her respiratory condition prevents her from breathing properly. Perhaps if people did research instead of turning to propaganda, their opinions would be valid.

Edmonton Valley Zoo, stop your selfishness and send Lucy to The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. Other zoos have recognized their inadequacy in providing properly for Elephants, why don't you? Yes, I have signed a petition.

The Toronto Zoo has wisely decided to send their three elephants to the PAWS sanctuary in N. California sometime in 2012. When will the Edmonton Valley Zoo do the same for Lucy? Everyone can see she is distressed and that the conditions she is living in are totally unsuitable for an elephant. The PAWS sanctuary is an elephant paradise with acres of land to roam and ponds to splash in. It's heartbreaking to think that Lucy may never have the chance to enjoy this kind of freedom.

My heart aches for Lucy and I rage at the selfish indifference of the Edmonton Valley Zoo to Lucy's emotional and physical welfare. Another petition to save Lucy from her lonely, miserable existence can be found at SaveLucy.ca.
