Support my effort to file for Temporary Protected Status (TPS)
With United States Customs Immigration Services (USCIS).
Hi I am Cheryes Jerome. I have been trying to file for the TPS program with USCIS due to the Recent Earthquake that took place on January 12th, 2010 in my home country Haiti.
Because of the devastating earthquake, on January 15th, 2010 Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has announced the designation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals who were in the United States as of January 12, 2010.

Ref: http://www.dhs.gov/ynews/releases/pr_1263595952516.shtm

I am a Haitian Citizen. It is a very difficult situation for me to come up with the money at the moment especially not being able to qualify for certain employments because I do not have a SSN and a work permit. The money that I now make doing odds job is sufficient only to pay for the day to day expenses and monthly utility expenses that I occur for my survival.

By supporting my efforts to file for TPS, you will be helping a human being get the necessary paper work in hands, so I may apply for a better job, get a better education - Education represents a powerful tool for generating jobs, improving incomes, and expanding the opportunities available to someone. As a result, I will become a self-sufficient person, to better myself, my family.

Think of what your support can accomplish.

You will be helping someone get on their feet, so that person does not have to depend on other s, or government's help forever. The benefit of that is many. Let me list an example for you here. For one: "Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you will not have to listen to his incessant whining about how hungry he is."

I take that example to illustrate a point. The idea here is to emphasize how valuable this will be to me as a person, and to you as a supporter. Let me say this. Imagine in the community you now live in where everyone in it has a better education and have a decent job to feed and take care of themselves and their family. Would not that make it a better community for everyone in that community including you? I bet it would.

How can you help?

1) You can help by honestly donating on this web site for a good cause.
2) You can help by spreading the news via your facebook, your twitter, your web site, and by email.
3) You can help by embedding this web page on your web site to help spread the news.

How much money do I need to raise and how long do I have?

To make it clear for everyone, here is a breakdown of the fee structure from USCIS.
Application for Temporary Protected Status - $50. Biometric Fee - $80. Application for Employment Authorization - $340 = $470. I must file my application for TPS no later than July 20th, 2010.

For those who may be wondering: I entered the United States legally on Visa, and I did not overstay; therefore, I did not break any laws.

Support my effort to file for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) with United States Customs Immigration Services (USCIS).

Thank you.
