Tell her to keep her head up, I'm young and 2 years ago I had it done. Life is great again even though I thought it never would be. If she wants to talk to someone who's gone through the same thing email me at kason42@live.com and I'll give you my number.
They tried to get me to bear weight after I think 6 months but it hurt. Some people with symes can't some people can. Either way though, just be patient...life will be back to normal 100 percent within a year if you keep your head up through the initial months of prosthesis fittings and therapy...eventually it all gets normal again and life gets normal again.
If anyone has any question regarding symes amputation or any type of foot/leg amputation, please email me at kason42@Live.com as I don't check youtube as often as I should. If anyone wants to talk on the phone just email me letting me know and I'll provide my number.
I'm 25, lost my right foot in an accident 2 years ago, symes amputaion. Life is back to normal, and just as good.
Sorry for the prolonged response. I wish I had just gone below the knee because below the knee offers many more options when it comes to prosthesis. Some people, like myself, will never walk on the symes anyway. It hurts because the doctor must not have gotten a couple nerves out. Anyway...my accident was two years ago and life is back to normal...99 percent of days I completely forget that I dont have a foot. Symes is not bad, but like I said BTK offers more prsthesis wise.
wow. I am a recent Syme's amputee. A drunk driver hit me in August and I've been trying to find a video online to see how I will be able to walk when I am able to walk again. Its been 2 months for me and I am still in a wheelchair. My left leg is where the amputation was done and my right ankle is fractured. Can you tell me how long it took you to walk on your heel? when did they give you the green light to weight bear? Thank you.
I havent shown her this yet i have been telling her about this vid big time everytime she gets low thinks she is gonna be in a wheelchair i tell her about it, and your achievements i will be telling her about the paralympics crikey thats amazing its a honour I am her cheerleader becauses i know she is so strong and can get throught this, it will take a while but i will be there cheering her on. Thanks again this shows what can be achieved good luck with everything
