@Goatoftheforest within most fighting ranges (city wise in iraq) the 5.56 has pretty good take down power..
-
@joeratti could have sworn the point of the 6.8 was more impact power down range... something a little more hit farther out than a .223 but more distance than a .308? i maybe wrong. i'm no expert though.

@metalhead2508 yes. and they end up shooting better than someone who knows a thing or 2

@fignal well no shit thats how we train them.

All of my uncles are either active or retired Marine Designated Marksmen :)
I'm going to follow the tradition.

Hope they teach them run and gun. Move fast hit hard.

@Rikki0 i dont doubt it, but what ive wondered is....what about a shotgun then you have obviously fired a gun.

.... it is your wife, it is your mother, it is your child, it is your lover.
You eat with it, sleep with it, march with it, go to the bathroom with it, you have dreams about it.
By the time you are done you know everything that there is to know about it and you can do anything that can be done with it.
Many of the soldiers i know tell me that when they were in the army their rifle was like a shadow to them.

@Rikki0 i beg to differ sir as most males have fired a gun in their life. Its standard issue.
Holy shit. 98% have never fired a gun?

@metalhead2508 100% of them have never fired a gun and still haven't. The Marines fire a rifle, pistol, sidearm, or a weapon but never a gun. The Navy fires guns. The exception is Marine artillery.
