- Dave Eggers reads an excerpt from his upcoming biographical novel, "What is the What," with subject Valentino Achak Deng
- a very drunk Ira Glass introduces "Ben Gibbard," who turns out to be surprise guest Fred Armisen (he kept saying really mean, vulgar things and then being like "ANYWAY, LIKE I SAID, I'M BEN GIBBARD.")
- Elia (of The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir), Ben Gibbard and John Roderick (of The Long Winters) team up to do the Neil Diamond song "Porcupine Pie" (it was promised that they would perform a N.D. song together if the crowd donated upwards of $5000).
GREAT show! so fun, and for a good cause, even! this isn't even a fraction of the spectacles that occurred.
I caught these guys when they did a Book-Eaters performance here in New York. I wasn't really sure what I was getting into, but the blurb on that site JuliB made it sound so interesting I had to check it out. I was not disappointed, fantastic stuff! As far as I know, they haven't done a DVD, which is a shame.

Dave eggers is Genius. Not 'a' genius, not some random genius identifiable only by an indefinite article, but true Genius, the embodiment of Genius, an anthropomorphism that personifies Genius.
