Dudes i heared today that if you add up all the funding that america has ever given nasa in there intire history. It still doesnt compaire even close to the cost of the iraq war. Why dont we just spend a some on space ships and educator salaries. Instead of making so many bombs!

this lander always looks like a death trap to me. Jettison the chute and then hover in something that looks like it wants to topple over at any moment. Give me 4 nice wide legs like a LEM

@altha2008 Sadly all too true. I was reading Red Mars/Green Mars over the summer and I was struck by the fact that the terminal political-economic decline on Earth is coming far ahead of the time predicted, but the colonisation of Mars is receding into the distance.

Before we think about sending a manned mission to Mars we need to send a manned mission into space ahve it land somewhere back on Earth then relaunch without assistance from anyone but those in the vehicle. If we can't do that we certainly cant do it on Mars.
