Fables vs Snow White and the Huntsman, Jack The Giant Killer, Once Upon a Time, Mirror Mirror, Grimm, and Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters! Has Hollywood been reading Bill Willingham's amazing Fables from DC Comics / Vertigo? Host Grace Randolph and guest Alan Kistler discuss the striking similarities between Fables, Snow White and the Huntsman, Jack The Giant Killer, Once Upon a Time, Mirror Mirror, Grimm, and Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters. Yes, fairy tales are hot right now on film and television, but did they rip off comics? If you like the trailers for Snow White and the Huntsman, Jack The Giant Killer, Mirror Mirror, and Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters or the TV shows Once Upon a Time on ABC and Grimm on NBC, be sure to pick up the comic Fables! Think About The Ink is presented by Bleeding Cool.

  • Great episode. But don't be afraid to give us a little bit more background on the comics being discussed. Haven't read fables, but they look interesting to a Gaiman fan like me.

And I WILL get that cookbook! Tyrion rules!

  • @MariaVosa Thanks for the feedback! Next time I will be sure to include a little more info on the comic book being discussed. And check out Fables! :)

  • hey Grace, do you think they will ever do a movie, or tv. program about snow whites sister Rose Red?

  • @elad463 Hmm, I dunno. I think outside of Fables she's not that big a deal, so it would have to be Fables related. Is she your fave character?

  • When I saw the trailer for Jack the Giant Killer my first thought was "crap, Jack Horner really does own hollywood"

  • SyFy is doing a movie which is premiering February 25, 2012. It's called Witchslayer Gretl. Also check out SyFy's movie Alice. I know with SyFy it's usually hit-or-miss, but trust me this was definitly a hit when I saw it; I would just like to get your thoughts on it.

  • I want Fables on my shelves...as for Once Upon a Time, I got angry at it for not taking their idea to what it could be, it feels like its pandering and like Grace said, "lite" and that's not me, I prefer to watch Mad Men, Weeds, and Supernatural without any sugar coating. I forgive Supernatural on their many cop-outs because I know they have budget limitations.

  • @THINKAboutTheINK She's one of my favorites. :D I watched a old, old cartoon when I was a kid that told the story of Rose Red, Snow White, and the bear prince. I've always been the only kid that's known about Rose Red. Haha.

  • I LOVE ONCE UPON A TIME !!!

  • Haven't read Fables yet, but will check it out one day. Once Upon A Time I found boring and poorly executed.

  • It's weird how they were developing that 'Fables' show a few years back, but instead it seems to have split into OUaT and Grimm, and both shows seem to be doing very well to the point where I don't think a Fables show is possible now.

  • @THINKAboutTheINK there are several stories about her in grimm's fairy tales. I find it strange that snow white gets all the ink.
