@americansansoo Another thing worth mentioning is.. boxing is a sport were you are meant to get hit. That's why i never took it seriously. You started out w/ it didn't you? No wonder you seem so "limited" in your abilities.. you need to be looking at Lasiter. He's a perfect example of a boxer becoming something greater. He steps back too, btw. lol. And I don't think he would wanna beat you up, like your heroes the Woolsey boys! How do you get some you juck to hate you anyway!? lol

@americansansoo they wear gloves.. hello!! And they do lean back outta the way, & if you notice, the ones really good at counter punching DO STEP BACK when they lean back. And what.. you can't punch like Tyson!? lol. I can! But then again I'm built like him too.. see you have to worry about people like Tyson. But they gotta worry about me! lol. I was training w/ future pros (like jose gonzales) when i was in jr. high, btw! La Habra Boxong Club baby..

Joe Frazier throws a left hook at your noggin. Worse yet, a young Iron Mike Tyson throws a left hook at your head.

I'm surprised none of them stupid PROFESSIONAL BOXERS who had those left hooks thrown at them didn't think of STEPPING BACK OUT OF THE WAY!!!

How stupid of them. I'm sure they had plenty of time to step out of the way of a 1-2 foot punch that might break the average persons neck.

Yeah, step out of the way of a hook... sheesh! I shoulda thought of that first, darn it.

@americansansoo But seriously, there's a block that works great off of a (right) hook that goes.. left step back into right side horse as you left down windmill block knocking the punch out of the way.. or you can catch it & leverage. Believe me .. or don't.

Hey.. I had a question mark after I said that!! lol. Because I wasn't sure what i was seeing. He does do a step up when they're still far away, then he settles on his back leg & does whatever. Plus he so slick w/ his feet that sliding up the front leg actually looks like he steps back if your not paying attention. Glad to see all those Jimmy "worship"ing vids you like making are payin off.. now go practice! lol.

But you are calling things roses that are not roses!

The position you are taking is that you think Jimmy stepped back quite a number of times.

I'm saying that that is NOT true. I am having trouble finding examples on demo videos.

Please help me out and reference a video where he does this, and then I can judge your assertion that he does it "quite a few times @ demos..." (You wrote that under your "wintersoldier" screen name.)

I want to see the evidence. Just prove it!

@americansansoo Ok, I'll buy that.. "stepping down" is something Jimmy seemed to do alot of. lol. A rose called by any other name, still smells as sweet..

So, tired of hearing people say "Jimmy taught that.. but it would never work". Why would Jimmy ever show something he felt wouldn't work!? Just sounds like excuses for why people don't know how to do certain things. So, they just say "that would never work on the street". lol.

Now, like Jack said, don't confuse stepping down with stepping back.

And don't confuse stepping down and around away from the attack with stepping back.

Jack said it, and Robert said it a lot, that Jimmy would show a lesson, and while explaining the lesson and going slow, he would do it different than when he just went into "demo" or "fighting" mode.

So don't confuse lesson teaching with demo or real world execution

Save me some time and show an example from a demo where Jimmy steps back.

The last time I took a class was when I lived in Southern California, and that was a few years ago, with the shawneesansoo folks.

You got me there!

So it looks like your gonna make me go thru the copies (and copies of the copies) of videos I got from my buddy Robert years ago. This afternoon I only looked at Chinatown and the clip of Jimmy when he was on that cable TV show in 1974. You can find that clip at "kungfusansoostuff" on the web.

Nope, no stepping back so far.

@americansansoo When was the last time you even took a San Soo class.. PERIOD?!.. considered yourself dissed untill further notice.

There's reasons so many 1st gen. stopped going to him, don't kid yourself, Cap. Besides we see Jimmy stepping back in his demos, don't we? Not gonna argue w/ you bout it.. don't even know who you are? lol
