Walter Bobbie leads the 1992 Broadway revival cast in a performance of 'Sit Down, You're Rocking the Boat' at the Tony Awards. http://www.songsfromthemusicals.com
Everyone brings a fresh perspective to the stage when they revive a show, the 2009 revival was good in it's own way, but you have legends such as Nathan Lane, Peter Gallagher, Faith Prince, and Josie de Guzman in this class obviously monumental show, in the biggest show stopping number ever to hit Broadway. The 2009 revival can't even hold a candle to this performance. It's not always about vocals, it's about stage presence and firing up a crowd, and this revival is so much better than 2009.
I freaking kidding me people!? This was great! But, I believe the 2009 Tony award revival of this is sooooo much better!! First because Tituss Berguss is brilliant and is a true tenor--as the role is called for. I feel like Walter is kinda baritone[ish] and he was funny, but Tituss was much more comedic, I mean that laugh that tituss does and the ending gospel section is much better than this lard, with a white lady belting operatically, idk I prefer 2009 revival.
oh god, i remember we i was in this show in 9th grade. when we were rehearsing this ong, our director showed us this video and we saw General Cartwright doing the high note, then we all yelled "THAT IS GOING IN THE SHOW!!!!" it worked out perfectly!! ahhh... memories
both of them were great, 1992 and 2009, but for this song, I like 2009 more. Tituss made the song really fresh, and the added part of the end just made me wanna jump into it and join the onstage party. I wish it was written like the 2009 version when I was Nicely a couple years ago.
Nicely Nicely done. But Walter Bobbie ain't no Stubby Kay.
