When "Long, Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)" was released in 1972 many people at first thought this was a new one by Creedence Clearwater Revival but were surprised to learn this was Britain's The Hollies. The song was certainly a departure for the group who had relied for so many years on their close harmonies. "Long Cool Woman" written by Allan Clarke, Roger Cook, and Roger Greenaway was a winner for them, however, peaking at #2 during the summer of '72.

in the seventies alot of people were high as a kite...doesn't surprise me they thought this song was done by ccr...they might have even thought it was done by the monkees....one would have to have been smoking high amounts of mushrooms in order to confuse Allan Clark's accent with john fogerty's accent..which are from two different worlds totally!!!...

It's not a coincidence that it sounds like CCR. These guys were fans and wrote this song as a tribute to John Fogerty.
