Just showing off latest Xonotic with r_glsl_postprocess_uservec2 modifications ^_^ ("1 -3 0 0" was the color filter and "-1 3 0 0" was the black and white filter for this video) The black and white part is simply showing off exactly what the edge detect picks up, but I also call it "sketchbook-xonotic."

  • When this come out?

  • @xXZAlloyZXx We have a new release planned for this month! Keep watching the website.... especially at the end of the month ^_^

  • Isn't it kinda pointless running a game at 300fps when your monitor is only running at 60Hz? Nice demo though, more people need to hear about Xonotic.

  • @EaglesNestOne64 Well this was just for recording the video, but actually no: Input feels much better at higher FPS, even though the refresh of the monitor is limited.

    Thanks though.

  • can I ask what gfx card u have? that's 300 fps !!!

  • @TheXV22 Haha that's just with recording :P I get that much anyway though normally -- nVidia GTX 285.

  • this guy has one hell of a computer. maximum effects at 300 fps

  • @xalener Not necessarily, a good game detects inputs and performs functions at a rate completely independent of the frame rate. Typically, a graphics card will take care of geometry, shading, etc while the cpu interprets inputs. For instance, if for some reason I decided to run Xonotic at 1fps, the screen will only change once every second. However, If I control my character, the inputs would be interpretted normally and in that second I can perform several movements and actions.

  • @EaglesNestOne64

and then the input is dampened.

  • @xalener That's what VSync does. :/

  • @EaglesNestOne64

So... he's supposed to just throttle the FPS for the hell of it?

  • The smoothness really makes a game of this type a joy.

  • guess ill have to play xonotic instead of so much other quake-ish fps :D after i stopped with nexuiz

  • @diotecktec2 Sweet! Btw you guys have the best looking Opensource I have ever seen! Keep up the nice graphics! Also improve some animations with walking and your game will look the best!
