    Nothing special really (i presume). But when you take it off the water it'll still be dry. The water will just roll out. The lotus effect is solely created by the surface rugosity of the leaf. search on google images for lotus effect. it is quite easy to understand.

    It will eventually lose its "Lotus-effect" for a limitted time. You should note, that the lotus' small leaves(The ones it use for the "Lotus-effect"), are hard to bypass with water, so it would take some time for it to actually lose its effect.
