wow...
Im not seeing the impracticality of the STi...
Basically you can take the kids to daycare, followed with a giant AWD burnout (or rear wheel drive because of the center differential :-) out of the parking lot, head home and grab the kayak, strap it on top, hit up some rapids, followed by a lovely off-road session. Then go home, pick up the kids, rape an R32 on the way home and then let the beast rest in the garage.

LOL I must say either you are not very bright or you are just a stupid kid dreaming about owning these cars.
How the hell can 135i be more expensive than 335i? Hidden costs? Interest rates? What the hell are you on about? You lost all your credibility with those ridiculous comments.

Have you seen how quick an R32 runs around the likes of Wakefield park... it can barely do under a 1min 13... the 135i does a 1min 9.8 with runflats ( 1 min 9 flat without), and the other two also do 1:09s to 1:10.
Sorry but this R32 is not in the same league as the other 3... acceleration alone its around 2 seconds slower.
its a Haldex Faux wheel drive, and in dry conditions with a good set of KWs and a APR retune a GTI will give an R32 a proper thrashing.
sti spec r?

The spec.R is an upmarket version of the base model STI. It offers - in addition to the base STI - BBS lightweight wheels and Recaro seats. Power output and the rest of the gadgetry is the same.

And that my friend is a much better review than the Australian car show above which apparently doesn't know shit since they picked the VW in first place. Idiots.

You drove the cars for all of 30-minutes and made most claims on behalf of the salesman talking you into buying the car.
The verdict we chose was based on overall values such as performance, handling, price and more importantly what the car was like to live with day to day.
Although we do appreciate comments from armchair experts like yourself, you're better off leaving this to people who know what they're talking about.

Yes, I drove the cars for 30min, but you can tell a lot about a car by driving it during that period of time, especially if you pushed it hard like I did. I respect any decisions you could've made except one; which is putting the VW in 1st place. How is it better to live with day by day? Because it's smaller & fits in your closet? If you want to talk about Day-by-Day living, perhaps you should consider practicality--something the VW doesn't have. Take price per deal ratios for i.e:$30K for a VW?

No, you can't judge the car in its entirety courtesy of a 30-minute all-out test drive.
If this test was _just_ about performance, the end lineup would be completely different.
As we mentioned earlier, it is about the entire experience which includes handling, performance, price and practicality.
The BMW falls off the blocks courtesy of price, the Evolution is impractical - as is the STI. The R32 offers ample performance, is reasonably priced and is the most practical of the lot.
