I heard Charley Patton played the tree of life Stella

Very lovely playing...you can just feel from the video the respect brett has towards music as an art form in general.
Best regards.

I have an oscar schmidt guitar, that I love, but I wanna hear your opinion...do you think they're actually good guitars?

Schmidt made guitars are of 'an era'. They were the cheap, Working Man's option available at the time. Probably because of the price, many of the great Blues legends had them and created songs that are now standards in that genre.
In my opinion, they, when in playable condition, are un-surpassed for fingerstyle Blues. Maybe not so good for strumming and Folky based softer styles, but certainly deserved of their reputation.

Brett, is that TOL a concert size?

Absolutely...Concert Model, not Grand Concert. No cracks, splits or empty Jack Daniels bottles inside ........

Lovely,
Mine's a early 20's Galiano version with the mustachio bridge. What strings are you using on yours? And do you tune it below concert pitch?

Usually I use silk and steel or an extra light gague bronze. I never tune the old guitars to concert. I tune a tone or a tone and a half down if the guitar will take it and 12 strings usually a tone and a half to 2 tones down from concert.
