The architecture of energy is changing before our eyes: from centralized to distributed, from autocratic to democratic, from wasteful to efficient, from dirty to clean. Think how PCs, cell phones, and the Internet transformed the architecture of data that prevailed 30 years ago.

This video, by "Solar Trillions" author Tony Seba, introduces Powershop, an early example of Electricity 2.0. An electricity retailer with a vision of being the eBay for power, New Zealand's Powershop has built an open, plug-and-play architecture that allows any electricity customer to buy power from any power generator - with a few clicks of the browser or iPhone or Android apps.
