@shoegalsho I think they have used the word tabloid to mean popular. The Jacobite lawyer was using tabloid methods although what he was referring to was true. I think tabloids usually do use the truth but try to drum up popular support for whatever it is they are complaining about.

Just discovered these excellent posts, shoegalsho, and I think maybe, as you noted, you've picked it up in the wrong way. This is excellent, balanced, well done documentary posting, of several parts. I want to replay it first chance I get, as time is pressing. Didn't suspect something this good was out there, till dustysweeper put up these posts! Many, many thanks!

Am I being picky on this but why 'Tabloid'? Tabloid news is generally untrustworthy and/or sensationalized. I think I just don't agree with the tone of that particular narrators version of accounts at times. Can anyone else give me their view on this. Perhaps I've picked it up in the wrong way. Thanks.
This narrator is actually an actor whose presently in Coronation Street.

John Michie is a very well established actor who has been in many TV programs such as Taggart and many more.

In what respect do you not agree with the 'tone' of the narrator.
The program is made up from well known historical fact told by some very respectable historians.
