During her Junior Recital at the University of Miami, Deborah performed a set of American Art Songs by John Duke. Both songs were based on the poetry of American poets (Sara Teasdale, Alfred Young Fisher and E. E. Cummings).

  • I'm still enjoying your performance. God bless you, Ingrid. Thelma Warner

  • Nice work, Deborah. I think you "get" Duke's songs.

Point of order: it's polite to give your pianist a credit. She's a fine pianist-musician, and she did a great job supporting you, even managing to turn her own pages without distracting from the performance.

And yes, in the spirit of full disclosure, I collaborate with a lot of singers. I love doing art song and lied with them, because we are true collaborators, as you were with your pianist in this video.

  • the Poem April Elegy was actually written by Alfred Young Fisher

  • So beautiful! =)
