Honestly the sound in these kind of trailers is better than the sound in the actual movie. :D

i remember this for jurassic park. still my fav one.

First saw this for jurassic park 1993. A few times the audience would cheer when the screen went to static.

@davherex still play in few theaters but not effective as those olden days..

@megaben99 That sounds awesome, Ben! I'm sorry to say that SDDS never contributed to the home market, but you can buy some SDDS decoders/processors on eBay (they're not cheap).

@RkivUnderground do you think home theaters could play the sdds trailers? p.s. if i ever have a home theater (its probably not going to happen but you never know) its probably going to be underground and it will be a japanese themed movie theater (including all you can eat sushi, japanese snacks and drinks, a game room with japanese video games,a huge collection of both japanese and american movies, including adult movies and anime, and a weapons room if zombies try to invade).

@RkivUnderground (cont.3) In fact, there is a new digital sound format trailer for a new sound format. That format is Dolby 7.1 Surround. It's a little sacre, as there are a few amount of Dolby 7.1 cinemas in the US, hopefully growing. To get you excited, it's going to be similar to SDDS, so you can relive those days, but by a different brand. That's because both formats have up to 8 channels of sound. Sorry for being long, but I hope this explanation helped you.

@RkivUnderground (cont.2) A friend of mine who goes to that theatre reported a THX trailer before "Star Wars Episode 3." The only sound format trailer I've ever seen in a cinema is Dolby Digital's "Egypt", and it played before "The Chronicles of Narnia" (2005) at a Clearview Cinema during its time. If these are related, I remember seeing DLP Cinema (2008), Real D (2005 and 2009), and Dolby Digital Cinema (2005) trailers at digital cinemas. (to be continued...)

@RkivUnderground (cont.) THX, while not really a format, can still be used today. Their marketing department is very creative, and it's very likely to see the "Amazing Life" THX trailer in a THX auditorium. The most recent Tex trailer and "Cavalcade" are common, but a bit less. Thing is, one of the theaters that I used to go to (and go to sometimes on business holidays) used to be THX-certified in 2005. Thing is, I never saw a THX trailer there during that time. (to be continued...)

i remember seeing that only once in 1997 when i went 2 c star wars. the sound shook the seats it was that loud! lol
