It's a diagnosis no one is ready to hear: cancer. Missy heard it when she was in her 20s and expecting her first child. She and her baby both survived and Missy survived another round of cancer and treatment. Through it all, she found it important to rely on others.
For example, her mother became the designated note taker at doctors' appointments. She says it was very important to take notes during what can be overwhelming and often complicated discussions with doctors and nurses.
She also discusses coping with the side effects of treatment; like losing her hair.

I have to say that I don't think anyone is ugly if they lose their hair from chemo therapy. It shows me that they are fighting a battle, it shows me that they are strong, and it shows me that cancer can happen to anyone. I understand the flip side of losing your hair, and wearing a wig as well. Very proud of Missy for fighting off the cancer beast! It gives strength and hope to many who may watch this video!
