This all seems like a big dick competition, iMac is the 'trendy' look at me, I'm a big deal, I have sexy slender design to go with my girly skinny jeans.

Windows is the 'nerdy' look at me I have a billion CPU's and my Skyrim runs 60fps on ultra settings.

This is why the trendy kids and the nerds don't get along in real life. Why would it differ on a computer.

They're built for different reasons.

@schmidtbag the only reason I stopped using openoffice is because it isn't compatible with Turnitin.com which is regularly used ay my school. -.-

@6littleMERMAIDS probably as much as the mac does, maybe a little more since it uses specialized hardware. the motherboard is actually the most expensive part. this is assuming amd is used, since their 12 core processors are pretty reasonably priced and i know for a fact there are 4-socketed motherboards that support them. intel's 12 core CPUs by themselves range from $3000-$6000, which is really ridiculous

@6littleMERMAIDS are you saying 12 cores and 64gb of ram is the most macs can handle? because that relatively isn't very much at all, especially if you are counting hyper threaded cores. the most cpu cores that a single x86 based computer can have is 48 (with a quad socket amd board), and the most logical threads would be 96 (assuming there is a quad-socket intel mobo). i believe the highest physically possible memory count is 128gb.

@SonyFoLife openoffice does work on mac, and as much as i am a fan of open source, openoffice (or even libreoffice for that matter, the new branch of OOo) does NOT do nearly as much as MS office, and some of the stuff it does do isn't as user friendly. it is definitely the best alternative, but it has a way to go. base and impress are lacking the most.

My PC can even run any video game!

The great thing is that I can modify my PC in the comfort of my home...
