Ki Purbo Asmoro, lakon Brubuh Alengka 5, Nov 2008, Sasana Mulya Kraton Surakarta, karawitan Mayangkara.
The poetic narration, written by Ki Purbo Asmoro, describes how Dasamukas sister Sarpakenaka is dead, his uncle Prahastha dead, and many other troops as well. The city of Alengka is destroyed, etc, yet Dasamuka is still resolved to continue the war. In comes Kumbakarna. Dasamuka explains how ecstatic he is to see Kumbakarna, and reminds him of how powerful and impressive Alengka and his kingship still is. Dasamuka comments on Kumbakarnas special ability to go into deep sleep, known as Cira Kala Nendra, which was given to him by the God of Fire, Bathara Brahma. Kumbakarna explains that he was resting his thoughts, which were so exhausted when faced with the war. They debate the effects of going without sleep or food, or the effects of eating or sleeping too much. (The dhalang then makes some private jokes about a few of the gamelan musicians who nod off during performances.) Since they have been talking about how important both food and sleep are for your strength, Dasamuka invites Kumbakarna to feast before they start their discussion.
