  • I am interested in building a small home for myself after I am through with college, but I have a question that I haven't seen answered online. Where do you get the land to build on? I don't know what legal issues would be involved with building a small home like this. Could you help point me in the right directioin?

    Thanks

  • I've also heard people talk about living off grid in order to get around building inspections (they often are required for hookups).
Many zoning rules vary by county. The codes seem complicated to me, but I read a few very interesting blog posts from a building code regulator (from Colorado) here: sustainablebuildingcodes . blogspot . com (remove the spaces)

  • Wow imagine how warm and cozy this house would be in the winter. I would love to live in this house more than ANY house out there.

  • amazing... I am from India .. People here want to own big houses cause there is a concept of joint family.. I wish they could hear your point of you... I agree ,its too difficult to clean and make the house look spic and span at all times.. Now that you are married ,did you ever cook in that kitchen?

  • For $45K you could buy a 40" travel trailer that is completely decked out. For $19K you could buy a nice mid range travel trailer that is very nicely equipped. For $2k you could buy a 40" shipping container, cut it to length and deck it out yourself for about another $5K- $7K.

Hate to say it but this is a horrible idea ! lol

  • I have known several people over the years that live in camp trailers. Is this really a new life style, or is it an elitist approach to what has existed for some time?

  • It's more expensive than I expected.....

  • @ReviewCam Those at the Tumbleweed Tiny House Company (I just filmed the video, they build them & sell plans) say on their website regarding one of their models: "Yes, a small ceiling a/c unit can be added to keep the house cool in any climate within the US."

  • @kirstendirksen I would love on of those. BTW, do you have room for air conditioning:

  • Hi, I am new to this - I don't know if alot of people in NJ have these homes? How does it work? You have to buy the land correct? And you pay taxes on the land and the little house? What type of tax would you say they put on a house like this? If, that's not too personal - I don't know if my town would allow me to have one, I'm a single woman with kids that have left for college.

  • i think he is gorgeous

  • My shoes alone would fill up the house. I'm all for it in principle though!

  • @jjpharissTheReal1 They're not mine. I just filmed the video. Jay sells them, as I wrote in the text, as plans for $859; ready made for $45,997 & to build it yourself for $19,950.
