Mosh pits happen when people cram up front to try and get close to the stage, they start pushing back and forth to make room. Hardcore dance pits happen because everyone wants to get as far away from those kids as possible.

Man, these bands deserve so much better than idiots dancing in their pits. A pit is supposed to be MOSHING, not dancing like a spastic down syndrome kid.
