  • He used it to describe Susan Boyle, way out of order and a very cheap shot, and pathetic way to get a laugh. Good comedians don't need to do that. Rubbish, of course he knows the way it is perceived, the reason its not heard much anymore is because, normal, compassionate people don't use it.

  • Are guys this talkative in Scotland?

  • He sounds like Sean Connery, no? You are so cute. =)

  • @mikerants I get what you're coming from, as it doesn't necessarily directly reference homosexuals anymore; but the fact is that it does use the term "gay" as derogatory, as if it's obvious that it's bad.

Say people started off hating Mike, but slowly society came to accept them. Then when a friend does something stupid? "Don't be a Mike!". While it's a legacy term and not really referencing Mikes anymore, it's still using the name as a derogatory term.

Do you see what I'm saying?

  • @juicesnap That is so well said. Well done :) I might be offended on someone else's behalf...but it's not real, not completely there. What is there is within the humour, the sentiment, of what we are. My greatest laugh and understandings are always thing that I see within myself - sometimes not so easily. Nice one. Thanks for that :D

  • I find Gervais to be brilliant, as a humanist in showing us what we all mean to each other. He's one of those keys to our existence, whether he knows it or not. He shows us the good and the oh so bad - which we should embrace so we don't act out upon (which so often involves torture and murder if we do so). The 'Inside the Actors' Studio' episode with him is worth watching if you've not done. It's on YouTube. Humanists unite and take over :)

  • i have learning disabilites and more people call me an idiot than mong. and no one calls people out for that word. and i was not offend by the word mong . your so right it's about what you mean not what you say. i agree with everything you say. i thought his pictures were funny. he was just having fun and trying to push the envolpe, I find it funny that most people who were offened were offened on other peoples behalves. i have a learning disabillity and i was not offened.

  • Ha!
