SCENE: the next day, during lunch time

. "demi are you listening?!" selena half shouted, snapping me out of my trance.
"huh? What?" I blinked a couple of times.
She sighed. "whats up with you? why are you acting so weird? Are you okay?" she asked with a concerned look on her face.
"im fine. Just a little stressed out." I reassured her.
"stressed out, or were you just thinking of joe again?" she teased.
"I am not! Now shut up before anyone hears you" I hissed.
"hmm. Speaking of joe" she trailed off, looking behind us.
"what?" I followed her gaze, seeing joe walking towards our table.
"hey." He greeted, smiling.
"whats up?" I asked with an answering smile.
"uhm.. dems.. can I talk to you. in private?" he bit down his bottom lip.
I saw selena shooting him a look with an eyebrow raised, from the corner of my eye.
"uh.. sure."
I turned to selena. "can I go?"
"of course you can" she leaned closer to whisper in my ear. "go get your man."
I felt my cheeks go hot. I glared at selena but she just laughed.
"lets go." Joe said.
He led me at the back of the school where it was quiet. And we were alone.
"okay.. what is it?" I wondered in curiosity.
He faced me with a serious look on his face. I couldnt exactly figure out what he was up to. I was surprised when he suddenly took both my hands in his, his eyes turning soft.
I gave him a confused look.
"im not exactly sure how to say this. And I dont know how youll react once I tell you. but theres just no way that I can hold what I feel for you inside me anymore." He paused, looking me straight in the eye. "I think that we both know that Ive waited far too long to admit this personally to you. so . . im just gonna say it." He took in a deep breath. "i. I really, really like you. Im not expecting you to feel the same way but I wish you do".
I stopped breathing.
Everything seemed to start spinning around at this moment and I feel like im going to faint. Is this real? I mean, what he just said.. that was so unreal. I cant believe it. I cant believe that my dreams are finally coming true. My heart Is pounding so loud and so fast. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out. I was too overwhelmed.
"well? Say something". Joe said, breaking the minutes of silence.
"i.. dont know what else there is to say. I mean.. wow.. that was so.. romantic and im really speechless." I said , getting a little teary.
"really?"
I nodded.
He let out a huge breath.
"so you think taylor would give the same reaction if I tell her this?" he asked happily.
Wait.. did I just heard that right?
"what?" my forehead creased.
"well.. I was practicing what I would say to taylor. And—" I cut him off.
"and you think that you could practice on me?!" I practically shouted. I felt tears beginning to sting my eyes but I held them back. I felt my heart breaking into tiny little pieces.
"I didnt think that it would be that big of a deal.. you didnt take that seriously. Did you?" he raised an eyebrow at me.
"n-no. of course not." I stuttered, trying to compose myself.
"then why are you so angry?"
"Im not angry.. im just." I trailed off, thinking of what to say.
"hungry?" he suddenly said.
"huh?"
"well, I did keep you from lunch didnt i?" he reminded me.
"uhm.. yeah.. thats it. I mean.. we could have done this later, right?"
"sorry. I got a little bit too excited." He chuckled nervously.
"its okay, I guess." I gave him a fake smile.
"so.. do you think taylor will fall for me?"
"maybe." I shrugged.
"oh cmon." he whined.
I just laughed. But I could still feel my heart throbbing as we walked back inside the school.
Its useless to show how much you care for that special someone, when that person is too busy getting somebody else's attention.
