The concerts offer a two-part look at contemporary music for violin and piano and are part of CMC's new music::new Ireland international programme.
The first of these linked but contrasting performances takes place on 12 October, when Darragh Morgan (violin) and Mary Dullea (piano), who are among the leading champions of Irish new music, play a cutting-edge programme of works by Gerald Barry, Frank Corcoran, Raymond Deane, Benjamin Dwyer, Andrew Hamilton, John McLachlan and Jennifer Walshe.
In the second programme, on 16 November, Ioana Petcu-Colan and Michael McHale explore the more lyrical side of the repertoire. Taking as a starting point the individual sound-worlds of the violin and the piano, their recital points up themes of contrast and complement in works by Ronan Guilfoyle, Philip Hammond, Philip Martin and Ian Wilson.
