Forget Lovastatin and Lipitor... the Cure is in the Forest!
New study suggests compound found in birch bark can slim you down, lower your cholesterol and blood sugar, and fight circulatory disease
Dr. Cass Ingram, author of The Cure is in the Forest says that if you're suffering from obesity, poor circulation, high cholesterol, or elevated blood sugar, a new study suggests you might want toss away those bottles of expensive prescription medications you've been taking, jump in the car, and head straight up to America's northern forests and nibble a little BIRCH BARK!
According to a study published in the January issue of Cell Metabolism, a compound found in abundance in birch bark known as "betulin" appears to have an array of health benefits to those struggling with diabetes, obesity, and circulatory problems.
When tested on animals, researchers found that betulin lowered cholesterol, prevented weight gain, improved insulin sensitivity, and even helped slow the development of plaque in the arteries."The birch bark compound reduced harmful fats and cholesterol more than Lovastatin, one of the most popular cholesterol medications," says Dr. Cass Ingram, author of The Cure is in the Forest.
Ingram says birch bark's therapeutic properties have long been known. And while betulin has undeniable health benefits as an isolated compound, it is the synergistic effect of betulin combined with other naturally occurring chemicals found in AND ON the birch bark that produces the greatest health benefits to the animals and humans who consume it.
"A mushroom called chaga grows on healthy birch trees, and the chaga mushroom is truly one of the medicinal wonders of the world," says Dr. Ingram. "It is the whole food complex which includes the chaga mushroom and whole birch bark that is truly the most curative, able even to trigger the death of cancer cells." Ingram says the bark of the birch tree and the chaga mushroom have been consumed in the form of healing teas for centuries by peoples living in Earth's northern latitudes.
"The antioxidant concentration in birch bark and mushroom is many times greater than the concentration available from Vitamin C, Vitamin E," says Dr. Ingram.
"The sterols found in the mushroom are both anti-inflammatory and antioxidative, and the establishment of healthy cell walls rich in these sterols is a critical element for the creation of vital health and resistance against degenerative diseases including viral syndromes, diabetes, fungal infestation, heart disease, arthritis, neurological syndromes, and cancer." Dr. Ingram says the health benefits of birch bark and the chaga mushroom can be obtained through commercially available teas and extracts, including Chag-o-Power,
Chag-o-Charge, and Bet-u-Power (contains the sterols betulin and betulinic acid).
