Happy Pride!

"Visibility is an important way to educate the public, commemorate our heritage, celebrate our culture, and move forward to achieve our goal of equal rights for all people. Capital Pride gives us an opportunity to be visible, to gather as a community with our friends and allies, celebrate our victories, and look forward to the challenges that we continue to face.We believe that Capital Pride provides LGBT people and their allies the opportunity to show pride in themselves, and celebrate the gift of our diversity while acknowledging our contributions to the larger culture.Finally, bringing our community together is still very important for us.Although we have been celebrating Pride in the Nation's Capital for 35 years, it is critical to remember that for many people this will be the first Pride they will attend. And, while we continue to make progress toward equality, a great need still exists for us to be visible, engaged, and connected."
