This is my submission for the Giana Factory Pixelated Truth Machinima Competition. All images have been shot in Second Life (and then post produced a bit).
Credits
Locations: Inspire Space Park and Insilico.
Smudged 'lip-stick skin' created by Ian Pahute.
Green screen and other production services at 'Isles Las Avies'.
Notes
Lip-sync filmed within Second Life. I used the original Danish lyric version of the song to record and create the lip-sync and give that 'European dubbed feel' to the machinima. No really! I did! Honest! *crosses fingers*
The imagery and narrative for the work came out of listening to the lyrics while surfing around Second Life to explore visual ideas.
The voice and lyrics are so strong in this song. It is edgy and ambiguous. Very European. I have tried to match this feel by juxtaposing the dark game like claustrophobia of Insilico (black and white) against the mind expansive cosmos of Inspire Space Park (colour).
The lips are a constant and I love the way the brain tries to construct faces out of the backgrounds of Insilico.
And of course there are pixels - promising to reveal, but ultimately adding to the enigma.
Enjoy!
Ian.
Please note. use of the soundtrack is licensed for use in this machinima competition.

Really nice compositing at the one minute mark. You know that lip synch would work with a RL actor?
