How to be more talkative; Have a better social life

This doesn't really address the problem, however ( I can say this from experience). In order to be a good listener, you occasionally need to interject with poignant comments and be able to carry your load of the conversation, even if it is smaller than the other person's; otherwise it turns into an interview. Non-talkative people have difficulty doing this, and by focusing on listening (which they always do) it puts them in the wrong frame-of-mind for being an interesting person to talk to.

That's my problem sometimes, people just open up and tell me all kinds of s**t that I don't wanna know! I guess I look sympathetic or something. It's amazing how all you have to do is look even halfway interested and some people will keep blabbering on and on and on, long after you've tuned out of the conversation.

It is kind of ashamed that I cannot even talk to some of my family members.

If I can find people I can open,relate, and have something in common, then I don't mind talking more.

I've tried this, but most people see right through it and are like: "You're not really telling me anything, you're just leading me along".
It's so annoying to be so quiet ;-;

I'm a good listener, I just have to get to the point where I'm listening to someone... that's the hard part for me...
