He was fine until the idiot spectators flipped the car back over, with him still in it and broke two of his ribs.

he wasn't even close to the photographer. If you pay attention to rallye-style racing, the drivers DO NOT CARE if a photog is in the way, it is the PHOTOG's responsibility to move if he wants to live. This driver wasn't trying to avoid the guy, he wasn't even close. He just took a really bad line into that corner.
