In his documentary "Paul Merton in China", the producer shows his despise for China and its people. When filming a sporting club, he says that Chinese women are interested in Westerners only because of their money.

If you consider this video clip as unacceptable, you can do the following:

1. Send the link to your friend in order to make it popular, so that more people realize how Western media talk about Chinese people

2. Send protest emails to the producer and TV channels who broadcast this documentary

3. Try to find the people in this sequence and help them to take legal action against producer and TV channels

  • Paul was being sarcastic, I think he is one of the friendly westerners to Chinese. The first man he interviewed was the true asshole, he believed that Chinese girls are interested in them because they are handsome, smart, ..., and Paul said the only thing that matters is that they have money.

The whole "game" later is western stupidity, however, as long as you are having fun, why not?

It is true and shameful that Chinese women flock to these people for good life, so much for being poor.

  • That's exactly what I mean: Paul Merton, with his racist comments and the way he interviews the people who say exactly what he wants, manages to convince you that "Chinese women flock to these people for good life". I have spent a lot of time in China, probably more than the people he interviews. Of course there are some Chinese women who are mainly interested in money. This is also true of some European women (and also men!!!). But generalizing is definitely wrong, and unacceptable.

  • Paul Merton is the good guy here. He is trying to help the women. Do not attack the man because you don't quite get his method or his humour. Paul Merton has done nothing wrong. He is a true British gentleman and has shown us that trough out his career.

  • If that were the way a "true British gentleman" acts, I would have a very low opinion of British people!

  • Well there are laws to protect against racial and religious hatred Paul expresses niether.

  • There are also laws which are supposed to protect us against people calling us "prostitute" and broadcasting this into millions of households! And these laws should be applied, but they are not. Or rather: they are applied when talking about Europe, but not when talking about China!

  • These laws apply where the individual may be affected. Noone appearing in the film is likely to be hence the European men are shown for a long time in a much worse light Paul is disgusted by them, not merely having alittle joke.

I seriously think you're fighting the wrong guy its right to combat bigotary BUT THIS ISN'T RACIST!

Paul Merton is my all time comic hero and i don't appauld bigots.

  • OMG Get over it. And while you are at it, get yourself a life. Contact the producers, take legal action etc. Really if it offends you then don't watch it but do be such a fucking cry baby. oh and by the way I live in china and have for several years and a lot of what he said is true. Women only like foreigners for money etc. If you dont like it then maybe you should try to change that!

  • this is a fuked up video

  • @mediaslammer no... not "CHINESE" woman but the woman IN THE VIDEO who HAPPEN to BE CHINESE it is obvious that the whole scene that is shown is sth highly retarded and disgusting to paul mertin he never even hints that its a pars pro toto or sth alike...

  • Are you serious?

  • haha, sneaky french blighters!

....thats not the translation at all!!!

    so shameless

  • @moonphoenix1 The drinking games were derogatory towards women; if you think they should be participating in them then you are effectively saying that they should be derogatory towards themselves. I fail to see how saying that on average Chinese people are poorer than western people is racist. I mentioned nothing about sex, perhaps you need to look up what the proper definition of woo is.

  • @MagikGimp

Yeah right, participating in drinking games if you're a woman means you want to bed someone. LOL... Both racist and sexist comment in one. Fabulous.

  • @mediaslammer

I agree with you. Being an Asian American woman, I'm sick and tired of people portraying Asian women as gold diggers/and or prostitutes. That is laughable, since there are White/and or European women who are gold diggers and prostitutes also. The difference is that Asian people are not seen as individuals to Westerners, but representative of the entire "race," whatever that means.

  • "Mediaslammer" is an idiot

All of his Paul Merton videos uploaded by him are supposedly of Paul insulting Chinese people when he clearly isn't.

It is called comedy, believe it or not, if someone makes a joke about you, they aren't always going to be sexist or racist.

  • Time to explain things. I don't know why it should come as a shock to learn that some Chinese girls with high aspirations and not a lot of money try to woo western men who do have some. The fact that those girls would join in the drinking games is proof of this. Paul was free to say what he liked and anyway he was just saying what the other guy couldn't. It was certainly those guy's opinion and possibly Paul's too, he was seeing it right there. The producer didn't chose it, there's no script.
