I own an 88' Toyota Four-runner and couldn't find a front receiver so I made one. It took a bit of measuring, welding, and drilling but it is sturdy and with a small platform attached to the top of the receiver....I added a cheap 3,000# winch. I removed the transport ears from the top of the float-bars and drilled and tapped holes so I could build a support to allow the cable to lift the blade. It works good.
I have an F-150 4wd, year 2000 and wanted to put a reciever hitch on the front. I was told my truck would not be adaptable . Perhaps because I plan on putting a winch on it's front. I plan to buy an off-road 2010 soon to use in my timber operation and hope I can mount a 15K winch [permanent] and also the snow plow reciever mount.
whoever said it couldn't be done is wrong. I built such an apparatus on my 88' 4-runner and it works great.
