great show, but laughable fight scenes. I like when diana riggs little stick arms knock a guy out in one shot... too funny!

@iLuvAkeys4ever - I think after 8 years on the air, "The Avengers" just simply ran it's course. Linda Thorson may not have been as popular as Diana Rigg, but there were other factors involved with the cancellation of the show. To put the bulk of it on her shoulders would be unfair
I personally find it irritating when people just focus on one aspect of this series and ignore what happened before and after which is quite often the case with "The Avengers". Diana Rigg was great but there was more.

@woohooboy Please note that when Diana Rigg left the show it only lasted one more season. Sadly Linda Thorson did not have the ''IT'' factor so the ratings dropped and the show ended for 9 years. I do understand what you mean about the show having a lot to offer BUT what it was offering after Ms Rigg had left was not enough to keep people tuning in!

As great as Diana Rigg was on "The Avengers" (and I'm a big fan of hers), it annoys me that people think the series is all about her. Newsflash - it's not.
There are a lot of other things to appreciate besides Emma Peel. Honor Blackman and yes even Linda Thorson were talented actresses who do fine work on the show and it's worth noting. I don't have a problem with people who say Emma was their favourite but there is much more to appreciate about "The Avengers" than just focusing on one aspect!

I refuse to watch any Avengers episodes without Diana Rigg as Emma Peel. She, in my opinion, was what made the show besides the story and Patrick Macnee. The other actresses will never top her.
