Amy Goodman, the host and executive producer of Democracy Now!, was the commencement speaker at Vermont Law School's 36th graduation ceremony on May 21.
Goodman is the first journalist to receive the Right Livelihood Award, known as the "alternative Nobel Prize," for "developing an innovative model of truly independent grassroots political journalism that brings to millions of people the alternative voices that are often excluded by the mainstream media."
This speech is a bit over the top, meandering, scattershot., preachy, moralistic and almost condescending like she is talking to school children or ignoramuses .."some of you might not even know where East Timor is..."
Look at the professors behind...the blond woman doesn't look too happy or inspired. Amy's great, but know your audience. These people are academics, lawyers, law grads, parents who are professionals etc. Great insight, but to successfully proselytize, hone your tone.

Amy was once introduced by an African American preacher in Baltimore (at a church in da ghetto) as a Prophet. I was already a fan, but that hit me like a ton of bricks. I've been to a few of her talks. She's the real deal thru and thru. My Homz' wife works at this school.Vermont is all that and a bag of chips (as we say in Baltimore : ) Letz get out there and change the world!
