Live at Montreux 1986 is a concert video release by the British synth pop band Talk Talk of a concert at 1986 Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. The show was part of a tour that started in April 1986 to promote the band's recent album The Colour of Spring, and was to be their only appearance at Montreux, from their last tour.

For this tour, the usual trio of Mark Hollis (vocals), Paul Webb (bass), and Lee Harris (drums) was augmented by John Turnbull on guitar, two percussion players, and two keyboard players. As often, de facto fourth band member Tim Friese-Greene did not play on stage with the band.

:: Such a Shame ::

Such a shame to believe in escape
'A life on every face'
And that's a change
Till I'm finally left with an eight
Tell me to relax, I just stare
Maybe I don't know if I should change
A feeling that we share
It's a shame
Such a shame
Number me with rage
It's a shame
Such a shame
Number me in haste
Such a shame
This eagerness to change
It's a shame
The dice decide my fate
And that's a shame
In these trembling hands my faith
Tells me to react, 'I don't care'
Maybe it's unkind that I should change
A feeling that we share
It's a shame
Such a shame
Number me with rage
It's a shame
Such a shame
Number me in haste
Such a shame
This eagerness to change
Such a shame
Tell me to relax, I just stare
Maybe I don't know if I should change
A feeling that we share
It's a shame
Such a shame
Number me with rage
It's a shame
Such a shame
Number me in haste
It's a shame
Such a shame
Write it across my name
It's a shame
Such a shame
Number me in haste
Such a shame
This eagerness to change
Such a shame

  • Absolutely fucking epic.

  • What can one say but excellent! I recently just discovered this song, I new and loved It's my Life from day one, but for some reason missed this one.. All of the musicians are so gifted and Mark Hollis' voice, IMO, is better live than recorded.. This song is hauntingly unforgettable.. The band's use of musical instruments that others do not use is just amazing.. I can not say enough about this band.. So glad we have these on videos because given the circumstances , I do not see Hollis reappeari

  • With access to this song and bunch of weed I can live forever :)

  • Der beste Song aller Zeiten.

  • 80's Talk Talk, Bauhaus, Black Flag, The Cure, The Smiths, The Psychedelic Furs, The English Beat, Talking Heads, B 52's...need i go on? Way back when the cops would pull you over and let you go!

  • 80s were a blast......

  • @calle68 I thank god that Webb wasn't playing his fretless bass on this live version because if you find a live version where he does, you'll hear how off-key he could get.

  • Yay, I just made the 100th like, and still no dislikes.

I just discovered this live version, a song from the year in which I was born. Also discovered the Smiths last year. Maybe the 80´s weren´t all bad, musicwise.

  • who's to blame!?I'M ashame! better than u2 BONO VOX!that's my opinion,sorry EDGE

  • one of the best songs in Rock/Pop-history.
