i totaly agree w/ you. songs these are mostly commerciallize the singer. too much tech manipulation. Eacg song will normally take more than a couple of contributing artists. it get tested w/ different peoplte before go out to public radio. it take skill & grreat knowldge of khmer language as to when where what how & mood instrument use to come with a song. now a day seem like they just throw in words
Back in those days musicians care more about writing good songs and music and much less about commercialism. That's what these classics much, much better than what we hear these days. These days it seems the musicians/singers care more about looks and trickeries than writing good songs the most people will like.
Listening to this song reminded me of the military ariforce base, Porchentong, where my childhood life began. This was way back in the '60s. The audio recording equipments then were nothing compared with what we have today. However, what makes this song, and many others alike, so pleasant to listen to is simply its melody and arrangement-such an expertise that is rarely found among Cambodian musicians at present. Thank you for posting this song!
