Porter Airlines Kicks Off Thunder Bay Service

Porter is seeing an overwhelmingly positive response to our unique service in Thunder Bay, said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. Were pleased to be extending the summer program all year based on high demand. Porter Airlines is celebrating its first day of service in Thunder Bay today. The inaugural flight from Toronto City Centre Airport will be greeted by a traditional water cannon salute, and followed by a reception at Thunder Bay International Airport.

Scott McFadden, President and CEO, Thunder Bay International Airport Authority Inc. and Robert Deluce, President and CEO, Porter Airlines along with local dignataries were on-hand for the ceremony. Porter Airlines is introducing year-round flights between Thunder Bay and Toronto City Centre Airport (TCCA) following strong interest in advance of the summer schedule debuting today.

The inaugural Thunder Bay flight touched down this morning and was greeted by a ceremonial water cannon salute. Guests participated in a reception attended by local politicians, tourism officials and community business representatives.

Porters Thunder Bay schedule is consistent year-round with three daily roundtrips during the week and two roundtrips on both Saturday and Sunday. Connecting flights to other Porter destinations, including Ottawa, Montreal, New York, Chicago and Boston are also available.

Travel to and from Thunder Bay has never been easier with the connection between Thunder Bay International Airport and Toronto City Centre Airport, said Scott McFadden, president and CEO of Thunder Bay International Airports Authority. Were excited about Porters commitment to year-round service and the ongoing boost to regional tourism and economic development it will provide.

At the heart of Porters philosophy is a desire to reintroduce convenience, speed and seamless service to air travel. Travellers benefit from a customer-focused approach that includes complimentary in-flight food and beverage service. Porters hub at TCCA is one of the most convenient urban airports in the world and just minutes from Torontos financial core and most popular tourist destinations.

  • @willettgarrett2 Working with Porter, you quickly get sick of the humming noise - hah.

  • I love the engine noise it makes, the low humming tone :D ( 0:42 - 1:20 )

  • These planes are so advanced you barely realize it's a prop plane. I love how they spray the plane as it taxis in.

  • I've had the privilege of flying Porter from Billy Bishop (YTZ) to Thunder Bay (YQT), and I must say, it was the best service I've ever had from any airline. The lounge in Toronto is top notch, and free to all customers. They offer free food and drinks, and after noon, they offer free alcoholic drinks too.
