This is a c.1925 Regal-made tiple (steel-strung uke family instrument) that I converted over into a mandola for a customer. Rather than the usual paired strings over 4 courses, I tripled up the two treble courses and set it up so that if the owner desires only to use a double on the treble courses rather than a triple, the center string can be removed from each and yet retain the same string spacing as before.
