With some helpful feedback, I tried it again with success. I reduced the size and linear length of the coil. I think it was around 30 turns of 30 ga. wire. Resistance was a mere 6 ohms. Using the equation V=IR, I had 20 amps flowing at 120 volts. Enough to smoke the wire insulation within a second.

I think that the heat has nothing to do with the levitation. The coil can levitate, cold or hot. The coil will act the same. However, the heat will burn out the coil in time.

Have you perhaps tried the experiment by applying a few million volts with e.g. a taser gun?

Thanks for your insights. Yes, the aluminum repels the magnetic field created by the coil. I tried a million volt stun gun powering a homemade capacitor. Two 12" copper plates separated by a film of mylar. All hanging from a string. The rumor is the capacitor would experience a net force toward the copper plate. I could not detect any movement. But I don't know if the stun gun suppied ac or dc. I had no way to measure it. My VOM has it's limits.

Do you know that you just explained the Nazi BALL that Hitler's scientists worked on and went missing at the end of WWII? It was said to contain Mercury in various states. I believe using the gas is a good idea but not easily controlled (variable plasma fields can also create high heat). But, if you stimulate the BELL filled with Mercury in channeled tubing forming circles around the diameter you can create lift. The trick is to have opposing rotations in each ring. None of us can afford testing

Instead of measuring results by lifting away from various surfaces... use a weight atop a delicate scale. Tie a string around the weight. And use 2 pullies. Bring string up and over one pully then across the 2nd pully and down to the suspended coil which without juice is partially lifting the weight. Then add juice and measure.

What you really are trying to make is a better DIAMAGNETIC. Thus compare using same variac percentages, same gage wire, same coil diameter only POOR conductor wire. Aluminum. Iron. Bismuth.

Try a tangle of wire instead of coil. Try it squashed flat.

I was tuninng a kapagen which was being powered by a MOT(transformer grounded to first stake in drt 30 feet away) when next thing you know i was a part ofthe circuit completing it from the hot on the mot me the wire then to a second stake in the dirt..Become part of this circuit litterally levitated me off the ground from a kneeling position over the apparatus and almost stood me up.if it didnt toss me back thaT WOULD HAVE KILLED MY ASS...........TRYa MOT?
