The Chicago Cops hated Jody Weis from day one, he never rose from the ranks, he's former FBI, and he was an outsider(not from here).

Depends on the outcome of that punch. There is a recent story of a man who punched another man, who ended up hitting the pavement with his head. He later died at the hospital. It's completely different, having a man handcuffed and punching an individual (suspect) that almost falls under torture. That and he is an officer of the law. So is 40 months fair? Absolutely NOT!

40 years would have been nice. It would have sent a message to law enforcement stating 'they can't get away with anything they want'. They not only represent the law, but uphold it (sometimes), so this means they are immune to the consequences? 40 months is not enough time, it only shows the police they case get away with murder (which by the way a few have) One can only wish 40 years, but no hes a cop, we can't have that, which is grotesque.

If this tape had not been rolling He would still have an outstanding record with the dept and fellow officers, even thought they watched the beating and allowed the victim to be charged with a crime, only for the cop to have commited the crime. Unfortunately any police officer that goes to prison, gets special protection. They are never harmed, and have body guards for every step they take. So, he will have to serve, and probably get out on good time, when he should have gotten 10 years, not his 40 months.
