CillianCartier your analysis is very astute. But beyond mere "patter" it harkens to the call-and-response of a fundamentalist preacher with his audience. Inasmuch as his pacing goes, it does borrow from "dozens" which were the origins of hiphop ("rap"). I get a kick out of seening old Lenny Bruce's chum Buddy Hacket in this. Preston is priceless though, then to see him in Victor\Victoria later....just a unbelievable talent. RIP Preston we miss your art and your presence...

I was cast as Harold in my high school's upcoming production of the Music Man. This is gonna be fun to memorize!
