my teachers always told me that the pinky ring is used for marching bands, but its not recomended if ur sitting in an orchestra because it restricts the movement of your ring finger since the muscles are connected.

It was good but one tip, the ring is to make your F more clear. I don't have one because I thought it would be too hard that for every time I play F I would have to slide it down a little.

@JRCSFUL actually one of our trumpets did that and her trumpet did not work when she did not put her pinky there it worked.

@GoodMusic010 Theres no really good or wrong way to put your finger thru the 3rd ring finger, Infact I was so sick of mine for awhile that I did not use it at all.
