Peter Harvey reports on Channel 9 News the 2011 ANZAC Friendship Match between the Vietnam Swans and Hong Kong Dragons. The match was played at the Vung Tau Greyhound Racing Track, Vietnam.
As well as showing footage of the match, Peter Harvey interviews Vietnam Veteran, Ron Vernon. During the War, Ron played for the RAAF team which won the 1967 Premiership - at the same oval!
The ANZAC Friendship match is played each year and is played under the tag line, "Honouring lost lives; saving young lives".
In Vietnam, more children die from drowning than road accidents and the Friendship Match also serves as a vehicle for raising awareness and money to support various swimming initiatives in Vietnam.
For the record, the Vietnam Swans won 12. 7. 89 to the Hong Kong Dragons 7. 5. 47.
