Performer - Deanna Durbin
Music - Walter Jurmann
Lyrics - Bernie Grossman

From the 1941 movie, "Nice Girl". The movies of 1941 had a strong patriotic flavor as America was getting closer to entering World War II (the most direct example is "Sergeant York"). Though "Nice Girl" is a delightful movie about the antics of the Dana family in a rural New England town, there are also times during the movie when the viewer is reminded of the situation in Europe and duties to country.

  • Simple, heartfelt patriotism. Something that is scorned today by broad sections of the population in the West. With enemies increasing in numbers outside and inside our borders, this may eventually prove to be our downfall.

  • Absolutely wonderful!

  • Thank you America you still the support of this world I thank you from my heart. Michael M

  • @manalone999 Nearly everyone I know is a patriot. They just don't go running around telling everyone that they love America the way people don't run around telling everyone that they love their mother. Nearly every person I have met who is against America is just a real life troll and just saying it because they know that we feel differently. The fact that they can get away with it is proof of how great America is. You really do have "the right to say, what [you] want to say." Without fear.

  • Inspiring and very much needed now more than ever!

  • @manalone999 You are soooo right. It makes me sick to hear people "down" the US. Why don't they go to some country that is "good"? As a child of immigrants I really appreciate this country.

  • I've been looking all over for this song, Amazon, E-Bay, etc. Do you have any idea where I can find a recording of it and also the song she sings in support of England at the beginning of WWII.

    Thanks

  • There was an alternate ending to this film shown in Britain where Deanna Durbin sings "There'll Always Be An England."

  • @Hailstone47 AMAZON.COM
