@DragonZord90 I completely agree, there is no 'perfect' defense just as there is no 'perfect' martial art. They all have weaknesses and strengths, I just meant for this specific situation I feel that is a better idea, but with a wall or corner that is indeed a completely different scenario and our Shorin-Ryu defense wouldn't work well or at all in that scenario.

Sensei Qaeem seems like a very nice guy and I mean no disrespect, but I also practice Shorin-Ryu and there are much more simple ways to defend from this scenario. One of our Kumite Self Defense techniques is identical in the scenario of a unknowledgeable two-handed choke, we simply just step back while pushing the hands off horozontially. The momentum of the quick step makes it possible to disarm the choke extremely easily.
