the candle burns the string, releases the water bottle, which drips into the bucket. The bucket releases another marble, which rolls down a shoot, hits another marble which rolls around the back of the machine and hits a spindle. The spindle releases another marble that slides down another shoot which releases a spring loaded lever, with a tack on the end, which in turn, pops the balloon.
